Kurt Gies

Construction and real estate have always been in the forefront of his Kurt Gies’ career, beginning at the University of Florida where he earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Engineering degree. He was commissioned as a US Naval officer in 1987 into the United States Naval Construction Battalion, better known as the Navy Seabees, form the U.S. Naval Construction Force (NCF), and in 1994 became registered as a professional engineer in the state of Florida.

Early in his Navy career, Kurt served in a variety of project management, construction, engineering, and property asset management roles. He began in Orlando at the Naval Training Center, where he served as the Public Works department Chief Engineer. From there, he moved to New York City and was
responsible for the project management of over $30 million in military construction projects. Later, he moved to Pensacola FL, where he was responsible for all Navy facilities projects in northwest Florida.

After serving his country on active duty service, Kurt joined MACTEC engineering and consultants and was responsible for over 40 engineers and technicians conducting facility inspection services and was personally responsible for all the amusement ride certifications for the opening of Universal Studios Islands of Adventure.
Following September 11th 2001, however, Kurt was recalled to active duty for 2 years where he served on the staff of General Tommy Franks of the United States Central Command to help prepare for Operation Iraqi Freedom by leading a crew of 300 men to construct the $160 million contingency headquarters in Qatar. As a result, Commander Gies was decorated with six military medals for his leadership and meritorious service. He later retired from the Navy Construction business in 2007 after devoting 25 years to his country.

Over the next two decades, Kurt Gies added several more designations to his construction career including commercial, residential, and multifamily real estate brokerage; as well as becoming a licensed loan officer in 2011. By 2018, Kurt had produced over $350 million in combined commercial and residential real estate closings and mortgages.

About that time, he and his new wife Lana Gies decided to combine their career expertise and launched Wise Gies Realty Services – a full service real estate agency offering renovation services, financing, appraising and interior styling along with the traditional brokerage services of buying and selling real estate. The fact that the renovation aspect of their business was such a success, (link to videos here), they decided to launch Wise Gies Construction -- specifically devoted to residential and commercial new construction, home renovations and commercial build outs.

With the decline of housing inventory expected drop another 9% over the next 12 months, Kurt and Lana are excited to offer their clients once again, their all-in-one model of financing, land acquisition and construction of their dream home or business!
